I'm sure many already know about Mozilla's hypocracies, but this is a nice compendium of transgressions:
So use what? Crome? *barf* I think the problem goes deeper. We need a web that isn't so confounded to the point where no one, besides large corporations, can maintain a performant, usable and accessible web client. As long as it's this way we will continue to pay for the web with our privacy.
The EU has signalled a deeper investigation of the Google/Fitbit deal https://www.ft.com/content/aba45bc9-ffc8-411e-ac29-dbb3171f4886 (paywall)
This is good news, but we also need consumer pressure to stop the deal going ahead, so please sign our petition to the @EU_Commission

#COVID19 being logically reviewed by two immunology & microbiology specialists, in California but based on nationwide statistics.
Surveillance capitalism is the same as climate change, but for data:
- Some people have been warning about its consequences for years
- Most people don't care because they don't feel concerned, they can't see it affecting them
- A few companies are making a lot of damage with the help of governments
- When we will face the consequences it will be too late
- We can still do something about it, and the sooner the better
@schestowitz "There is no cloud, just someone elses computer" People need to be reminded of that however they feel about cloud computing,
If the cloud belongs to someone else, they may have no attachment to the importance , value (including sentimental value) of the data contained therein. To them it is 0s and 1's to you it is say a photo of a lost love one, or this years financial data or a customer database.
Societal is what’s happening in the world and what people are talking about right now
